| Technologies in our cars |
Mazda is constantly researching, evaluating and developing new technologies to further enhance the high levels of comfort, safety, reliability, performance and to reduce the environmental impact of its vehicles. For example, on October 27, 2004, Japan's transport authorities gave Mazda permission to Road Test a hydrogen-fuelled version of its Rotary engine RX-8.
This unique vehicle features a dual-fuel system that allows the driver to select either Hydrogen or Petrol power at the flick of a switch. This has been achieved without loss of interior space for four passengers.

We recommend Genuine Mazda Rotary Engine Oil for this high performance sports car. This oil is available in convenient 1ltr packs - handy when topping up during owner checks. | I need to discuss my sales contract. Who do I call? |

| Are Mazda prices the same at all dealerships? |
Mazda Australia, as the distributor, publishes Manufacturer’s List Price (MLP) including GST and Luxury Car Tax (LCT) where applicable for its models. Furthermore additional charges may be payable and relate to dealer delivery (and, if applicable, LCT payable on dealer delivery), registration, third party insurance costs, stamp duty and other mandatory charges. These charges are not quantifiable as they will vary for each customer depending on individual circumstances. Mazda dealerships are independent businesses and the Trade Practices Act forbids the fixing of prices across the dealership network. Since prices are at the discretion of each dealer, it is possible they could vary across the network. Market forces and the spirit of competition will ultimately determine the final negotiated price. |
| I have a trade-in, how much is it worth? |
| Mazda Australia, as the distributor of new Mazdas, is not involved in customer trade-ins irrespective of their make. The net change over price when purchasing a new Mazda is a matter for negotiation between the customer and the authorised Mazda dealership. |
| How long do I have to wait for my new Mazda? |
Mazda and its dealers take great care in predicting the particular demands of our customers with regard to model mix, colour and specification in order to have stock on hand for immediate delivery.
Mazda models are highly regarded and occasionally their popularity means a short wait is unavoidable. If no stock is available locally, Mazda dealerships have the means to locate a particular model for sale wherever in Australia it may be.
Dealership stocks are replenished at regular intervals, however if your needs are urgent ask your Mazda Sales Consultant if a particular vehicle can be transferred for you. Payment of a transfer fee may be applicable. |

| I need technical help with my ‘project’. |

| When is my first vehicle check and does it cost anything? |
There is no charge for the 1000 kilometre inspection. It’s performed as a courtesy to ensure everything is in order. A list of items to be checked is in your Warranty Information booklet.
If during the free inspection a dealership checks your oil and suggests a change of lubricant and filter is required, then this is not included in the inspection and a fee would be applicable. Feel free to discuss your particular needs with your Service Department. |
| What are the scheduled service intervals for a Mazda? |
Your vehicle must be serviced to Mazda specification and standards every 10,000 kilometres or every six months whichever is sooner. Please consult your Owner’s Manual for detailed information on the serving requirements for your Mazda. Theses requirements must be followed to ensure your vehicle continues to operate within specification.
Vehicle servicing is an owner responsibility and failure to maintain your Mazda in accordance with these requirements may void your New Vehicle Warranty. Servicing every six months even though 10,000 kilometres has not been reached ensures that fluids and parts susceptible to deterioration are inspected or replaced to keep your Mazda running as it should. Please note some earlier model Mazdas had service intervals of every six months or 7,500 kilometres and every three months or 5,000 kilometres. |
| Does the dealership have a courtesy vehicle available for me at service time? |
To minimise inconvenience at service time, most Mazda dealers have a limited number of courtesy cars available for customer use. Usually dealers charge a nominal daily fee to cover overheads. Please enquire with the dealership when you call them to book in for servicing.
Please note in the case of a warrantable concern, the terms and conditions of the New Vehicle Warranty clearly state that consequential losses are excluded from any claim. This includes costs associated with having a concern addressed. |
| My vehicle was damaged by the dealership, what should I do? |
Our dealerships always act with the utmost professionalism and care. However very rarely a mishap may occur that requires some corrective action to a customer’s car. In these circumstances our dealerships always act promptly to resolve any problem. As dealers are separate businesses from Mazda Australia we are not involved in the resolution of these matters.
Please address enquiries of this sort to the Service Manager at your dealership. |
| How long is the warranty on My Mazda? |
Please consult the Warranty Information booklet supplied with your Mazda at time of sale for detailed terms and conditions of the New Vehicle Warranty. Alternately, details may be found on our website by clicking here.
The warranty commencement date is shown on the New Vehicle Registration of Ownership in your Warranty Information booklet. The warranty period for all new Mazda passenger vehicles is 3 years with unlimited kilometres.
The warranty period for a Mazda commercial vehicle shall exist for the longer of (i) a period of 24 months from the earliest date of the Mazda commercial vehicle first being registered, sold at retail, or otherwise being driven, used or operated; or (ii) the time until the Mazda commercial vehicle has travelled 100,000 kilometres but no longer than 36 months from the earliest date of the Mazda commercial vehicle first being registered, sold at retail, or otherwise being driven, used or operated. |
| Is an extended warranty available? |
Mazda Australia only offers an extended factory warranty for passenger vehicles. The program does not apply to commercial vehicles (such as the BT-50). It can only be purchased at time of new vehicle sale or when the vehicle is purchased second hand from an authorised Mazda dealer within the existing warranty period. It adds a further twelve months with unlimited kilometres to the standard three years with unlimited kilometres warranty term. Terms and conditions during this fourth year are the same for the standard three year period.
Please consult the Warranty Information booklet supplied with your Mazda at time of sale for detailed terms and conditions of the New Vehicle Warranty.
Details may also be found in the warranty section of our website.
For the extended warranty to be valid, the official Mazda receipt must be produced on demand. We recommend permanently affixing it to the Warranty Information booklet. |
| Does my New Passenger Car Warranty include the body panels? |
The Mazda New Car Warranty covers body parts for 36 months. Body panels (sheet metal) are warranted against perforation (rust through) for 72 months from the earlier date of the Mazda passenger car first being registered, sold at retail or otherwise being driven, used or operated.
For this warranty to be valid, the vehicle must be maintained in accordance with the ‘Owner’s Responsibility’ conditions as set out in the Warranty Information booklet.
Refer to your Owner’s Manual for recommended cleaning and maintenance instructions which include the removal of environmental fallout (such as bird-droppings). |
| Does Mazda or my dealership facilitate warranty repairs? |
The New Vehicle Warranty provides comprehensive peace of mind that your Mazda will be free, under normal use and maintenance, from defects in material and workmanship. If a concern arises that you consider may be warrantable, please contact your local Mazda dealership to have the matter investigated.
Every Mazda dealership is committed to attending to any warranty concern promptly and thoroughly. Our Mazda dealerships are equipped with the technology, tools and trained personnel to keep your Mazda in excellent condition.
In addition, dealerships have full access to the technical resources of Mazda Australia should the need arise. |
| Will my New Vehicle Warranty be affected if I get my Mazda serviced elsewhere? |
The New Vehicle Warranty is not conditional on having your vehicle serviced by a Mazda dealer.
Please ensure the service agent strictly follows the maintenance schedule and uses genuine Mazda parts. Should you experience any difficulty with your vehicle during the warranty period and the cause is attributed to improper servicing, any rectifications will not be covered. Without a genuine Mazda service history, any concern will require the review of your fully documented service history, demonstrating your vehicle has been serviced at the appropriate times to Mazda standard and specification.
For peace of mind, we recommend servicing be performed only at an authorised Mazda dealer. Only our dealership staff are trained by Mazda and possess the latest specialist knowledge and equipment to ensure your vehicle is operating correctly with the latest engine management configuration.
For added piece of mind, any genuine Mazda parts fitted by an authorised Mazda dealer carry a Whole of Life Warranty. |
| If my vehicle is being repaired under warranty, are my expenses covered? |
The Mazda New Vehicle Warranty covers the repair or replacement of any genuine Mazda part that is defective in material or workmanship, within the warranty term, without charge to the owner.
It does not cover any expense relative to transportation of the vehicle to or from an authorised Mazda dealer or any consequential, indirect or incidental loss or damage. This includes costs associated with having a concern addressed. |
