Expert Reviews
What the Experts Think

2026 Mazda 6e GT review: Quick drive
Mazda has delivered a liftback so sleek and elegant that it was recognised as 2026 World Car Design of the Year, beating out the Kia PV5 and Volvo ES90… For a smidge over $50k drive-away, you're getting an attractive, practical and well-equipped electric liftback from a trusted marque.

2026 Mazda 6e review: Australian first drive
The 6e finally represents Mazda's first competitive electric vehicle... backed by a well-known Japanese name and an Australia-wide network of more than 150 dealerships... the liftback is a strong alternative to a Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal or Kia EV4.

Mazda 6e 2026 Review
The Mazda 6e is a gorgeous, award-winning car. Long, low and sleek, it's one of those vehicles that gets better the longer you look at it. If your browser history is full of Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal reviews, don't skip the Mazda 6e.

Mazda CX-5 2026 Review
There's plenty to like about this new-generation Mazda 6e… Mazda's first mainstream EV is uniquely styled, nicely built, drives with a pleasing smoothness and offers competitive charging and range (560km WLTP)… It's also quite classy and luxurious for the $49,990 (before on-road costs) for the base GT.

All-New Mazda 6e Electric review
The Mazda trumps the Model 3 in terms of range with its 78kWh battery offering a WLTP-tested 560km… the 6e a handsome liftback sedan… the overall design and finish exudes Mazda's typical excellent quality… quality materials throughout and enough creature comforts to give the feeling of money well spent.

Mazda 6e 2027 review – Australian first drive
There is a lot to like with the 6e, starting with the price. It's a cheaper alternative to both the BYD Seal and Tesla Model 3, so it starts strongly and then builds on that with the kind of design and driving experience we expect from Mazda.

Design
Electrifying design from the inside out
Exterior
The All-Electric Mazda 6e blends minimalist aesthetics with coupé-inspired styling, for an innovative take on our awarded Kodo design philosophy. The low roofline and short-deck coupé silhouette creates a sporty look, yet retains the practicality of a hatchback boot.

Signature Exterior lights
During charging, captivating LED lighting accents enhance both front and rear. An illuminated emblem, signature wing design, and rear taillight bar pulse gently to indicate status.

Frameless doors with flush handles
Frameless doors create a sleek, uninterrupted silhouette, evoking the spirit of a classic roadster. For enhanced aerodynamic performance, the door handles remain flush with the body, extending outward upon unlocking and retracting seamlessly as you drive away.

Electric Rear Spoiler
An electrically extendable rear spoiler that delivers an athletic flair while enhancing road stability. Automatically deploying at 80km/h, it can also be manually operated to elevate your road presence.

Dynamic Wheel Design
Amplifying the dynamic character of this all-electric sporty hatchback are 19" wheels with a bold five-spoke design and sleek flat black surfaces. Their aerodynamic profile enhances driving range, delivering the perfect balance of style and performance.
Interior
The minimalist cabin is open and inviting, based on the Japanese concept of "ma", which translates to the beauty of empty space. The seamless integration of advanced technologies enhances your driving experience; while making you feel at ease.

High Quality Materials
Designed to give you a sense of spacious freedom and calm, the cabin’s minimalist design is complemented by high quality materials and acute attention to every detail. Advanced technology, including the centre console and digital cockpit, are seamlessly integrated to make your driving exceptionally comfortable and effortlessly intuitive.

Interior Ambient Lighting
When darkness falls, set the mood with a unique ambient lighting system. By making exclusive use of indirect light sources, it creates a serene cabin atmosphere. And with 64 colour options, it is highly customisable.

Safety
Drive with confidence
Fully enjoying your vehicle means feeling safe in it. The All-Electric Mazda 6e is equipped with nine airbags to protect occupants in case of a front, side or rear collision. Its high-strength steel cage structure is designed to distribute potential impacts uniformly across the body. And the battery is housed in a robust protective casing.
Lane Keeping Assist
Particularly helpful for long trips on the motorway, the Lane Keeping Assist System (LAS) provides steering assistance to help you stay centred. When the system detects that your vehicle is drifting out of its lane, it provides steering inputs to gently guide you back to the centre.
Rear Collision Warning
Rear Collision Warning (RCW) system alerts you if there is a risk of collision from the back. This gives you time to react and prevent potential damage.
Smart Brake Support / Autonomous Emergency Braking
If something unexpected impacts your reaction time, your Mazda is ready to help with Smart Brake Support (SBS). The latest M-pixel cameras, millimetre-wave radar and ultrasonic radar are used to detect potential hazards. If a collision can't be avoided, the brakes are autonomously activated to mitigate damage.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
When reversing, sensors detect vehicles approaching from the side and sound a warning to the driver or apply the brakes if necessary.
Emergency Lane Keeping
Avoid potential collisions when your vehicle is at risk of leaving its lane with Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK). It works in combination with the Lane Keeping Assist System, Blind Spot Assist, and Forward Obstruction Warning, each offering specific interventions to enhance safety.
360° Camera
Equipped with a 360° View Monitor with See Through View and a Side View Monitor, the All-Electric Mazda 6e is easy to park. Together, they give you a bird's eye view of the entire area for added confidence.
Connect to your Mazda 6e with the app
Available for both Apple and Android smartphones, the All-Electric Mazda 6e has its own dedicated app that lets you fully connect to your car. With many remote-control functions, the app makes your ownership experience easier, more convenient and enjoyable.

Mazda 6e App Highlights
Manage your Mazda 6e, from anywhere
Remote Climate Control
With the All-Electric Mazda 6e, you can use its dedicated app to pre-condition the cabin remotely or turn on the steering wheel and seat heating. In the winter, you can defrost the windscreen and rear window as well.
Bluetooth Key & Vehicle Sharing
With a Bluetooth® connection and the ‘MAZDA 6e app‘, you don't need a physical key to start your vehicle or unlock the door. The vehicle can be shared with up to three other users, and you decide how long they are authorised to access the vehicle.
Charging Management
It’s easy to keep an eye on your charging status and current range using the Mazda 6e app. You can also set a charging schedule to help you take advantage of off-peak energy rates or make the most of your home solar system.
Real-time Vehicle Status
If you can't remember whether you locked your car or closed a window, you can take action with the ‘MAZDA 6e app‘. It lets you lock your doors or close the windows and boot remotely. You can also check your cabin temperature.

Your Next Steps
1. Efficiency and range figures are based on Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) test results. They are useful in comparing the efficiency and range of different vehicles. They may not be the efficiency and range achieved in practice. This will depend on traffic and road conditions and how the vehicle is driven.
2. Charging time varies depending on charger capacity, battery and ambient temperature and other factors.
