New Mazda6. It's Quality Time
Mazda has released its most refined Mazda6 yet. More power and better efficiency, enhanced comfort and superior safety, all delivered in a more refined package that evokes mature elegance. Showcasing an evolution in Mazda’s KODO design language, New Mazda6 has raised the bar with advanced engine and safety technologies and superior craftsmanship.
Performance
The existing SKYACTIV petrol engine in the New Mazda6 powertrain line-up has been updated and a new high-performance SKYACTIV-G 2.5T turbocharged petrol engine added to higher grades.
SKYACTIV-G 2.5T
The SKYACTIV-G 2.5T turbocharged petrol engine achieves both outstanding low to mid-range torque and excellent real-world fuel economy.
The award-winning SKYACTIV-G 2.5T offers 170kW of power and a huge 420Nm of torque, renowned for its rapid power delivery and prodigious torque courtesy of its Dynamic Pressure Turbo. The 4-3-1 exhaust manifold, along with a newly positioned valve, delivers strong boost performance throughout the operating range, from low to high engine speeds.
SKYACTIV-G 2.5
The fuel-efficient SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre petrol engine adds a greater level of refinement and comes with a host of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY upgrades. The major new technology is cylinder deactivation which shuts down two of the engine’s four cylinders in light-load situations, such as when cruising at a constant speed. Other upgrades include internal friction reduction, upgraded fuel injection and improved thermal management and knock resistance.
Design
New Mazda6 has been thoroughly reengineered from the outside in. From the newly designed front grille, to nappa leather seats, everything is designed to work in harmony, creating a sense of powerful motion that flows from the front to the rear.
Exterior
The centre of the grille’s bottom edge sits lower than before, with a new intricate mesh pattern replacing the chrome fins of the previous Mazda6. The new grille also sits deeper within the surround, giving the face a more sculpted look.
At the rear, the exhaust pipes have been repositioned toward the outer edges of the bumper and their diameter has been increased, further emphasising width and a low centre of gravity.
Interior
Inside, the considered and deliberate touch of craftsmanship elevates the cabin environment, realising a more high-quality look, feel and atmosphere. Inside the cabin of the quietest Mazda6 yet, the finest materials are used, including nappa leather, Japanese Sen wood and UltraSuede®.
Front seats have been redesigned, with thicker padding and wider seat cushions ensuring comfort and support to the natural curve of the spine, and in a first for Mazda, front seat ventilation is now available.
There are 14 variants of New Mazda6 available, with a choice between two stylish body types: wagon and sedan, and four model grades: Sport, Touring, GT and Atenza.
