A more sustainable, powerful drive
Welcome to a more dynamic and environmentally conscious driving experience. Our Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) feature a powertrain that combines an electric motor with a petrol engine to deliver exhilarating performance, the option to run electricity alone, and travel longer ranges with exceptional fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
Why choose a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV)
Exceptional Efficiency
Our smart hybrid technology switches between electric, petrol or a mix of both for optimal performance and lower tailpipe emissions.
Full Electric Range
With a rechargeable battery on board, PHEVs can drive in full EV mode, which is perfect for travel in urban environments.
Effortless Range
When the battery is running low, the engine kicks in to keep you moving whilst recharging the battery.
Smooth Driving Experience
Settle in for a smooth, comfortable drive, as the car effortlessly balances petrol and electric power.
How does a plug-in hybrid work?
Features of PHEV
Our Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) offer the advantage of both an electric motor and a petrol engine. Our Mazda CX-60 can run in pure EV mode for up to 76km1 thanks to its 17.8kWh battery pack - more than enough for most average daily commutes. You can also switch from EV mode to hybrid running based on your driving needs. With the electric motor and petrol engine working together, you’ll enjoy an exhilarating drive. And even if you can’t plug it in, you can still complete your journey as long as you have petrol.

Charging your PHEV
Mazda’s PHEV battery can be easily recharged via a household socket2, home AC wallbox charger, or a public charging station. Some of our Mazda PHEVs can achieve a full charge in 8.5 hours3 using a 10amp 240V household socket drawing 2.4kW or 2.5 hours3 on an AC charger with a type 2 port, drawing the vehicle’s maximum charge rate of 7.2 kW. When the battery runs low, hybrid mode activates and charges the battery via the petrol engine. Our Mazda PHEVs feature regenerative braking to capture braking energy for charging purposes.

Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
Vehicles with a fully electric motor, driven by a powerful high-voltage battery for a smoother, more effortless drive with zero tailpipe emissions.

Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV)
Known as Mazda M Hybrid, energy captured whilst braking is used to power electrical systems and assist the engine, for reduced emissions and better fuel economy. Differing from PHEVs and BEVs as the electricity doesn’t power the vehicle’s wheels.
